In the world of television, writers’ rooms are unavoidable. But can these same environments revitalize feature film franchises? Recently, film studios have been organizing rooms of high-profile screenwriters to rethink the direction of their rich mythologies. Though these rooms have the promise to create new, diverse directions and spin-offs, they also come with many questions about who receives the film’s limited credits and how writers get paid for their ideas.
