On Friday, the twenty-seventh of November 1835, James Pratt and John Smith became the last two men in England to be executed for sodomy. The play follows their story - from meeting each other to their last moments together in Newgate Prison - through the eyes of their mutual friend and cause of their conviction and death, William Bonill.

Seven scripts have been chosen from this year’s group of Semifinalists and Finalists in the Screenplay, Playwriting, and Fiction Podcast Competitions to be read aloud in our Script Reading Workshops. These selected scripts will be performed by a group of actors in an intimate setting. The read-throughs will be bare-bones. With only actors and the words on the page, it is the ultimate testament to the quality of the written word.
