Laura VanDenBergh

Screenwriter & Drag King
Los Angeles, California
Laura VanDenBergh is a writer and performer based in Los Angeles. Her Broad City spec script, Angel Management, made it to the second round in 2018’s Austin Film Festival. Her writing career started as a bratty, contrarian teenager. After winning her high school film program’s best screenplay award two years in a row, she decided to buck the system and become a waitress instead. She went on to work as a nanny, yoga instructor to incarcerated youth, preschool teacher, doula, and personal assistant to a self-proclaimed telepathic esthetician to the stars. In 2017, Laura claimed her millennial birthright by writing, directing, and starring in DILF Diaries: a web series based on her popular Facebook vignettes about a nanny working for a hot, single dad. She writes, produces, and hosts a seasonal drag variety show titled Wildest Dreams in character as Gene Wildest. She is also the author of a bilingual children’s books series in development titled Love and Lars, starring her niece and nephew. In her spare time, she runs a queer camping group, plays on an amateur feminist basketball league, and spends way too much time at the local boardgame cafe.
