Matt Sazama
creator/executive producer/writer Lost in Space; writer Power Rangers (2017), Gods of Egypt (2016), The Last Witch Hunter (2015), Dracula Untold (2014)
Matt Sazama grew up making live action and animated Super-8 movies in Milwaukee, Wisconsin -- films whose ambition outstripped their budget while trying to replicate the magic found in the science fiction and fantasy films of the 80s. His love of movies led him to attend New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he briefly became an auteur. Together, with his writing partner Burk Sharpless, they wrote the original script Dracula Untold, which was on the prestigious Black List of best unproduced screenplays before it was finally made by Universal Pictures in 2014. Since then, they wrote the script to Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt and co-wrote the fantasy/sci-fi films The Last Witch Hunter and Power Rangers. Finally, with the Netflix original series Lost In Space, the promise of those old Super-8 movies has been realized with Matt acting as co-creator, executive producer and writer. Matt now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and kids. Perhaps he will become an auteur again one day.
