Matthew Kellard

writer Night School, Real Husbands of Hollywood, The Inspectors, The Donors
Matt Kellard has been writing scripts since the age of 13, when he penned a comedy about a ninja named Snake Eyes who would react the deaths of people close to him by looking to the sky and yelling “NOOOOOOOOO!” before implementing his violent revenge. What the script lacked in originality it made up for in actual brass brads. Finding his way back to the life of a screenwriter around 30ish, he worked as a writers assistant for several years during which time his script “Back To Normal” won the AFF Best Comedy Pilot award in 2011. He picked up a couple credits in television before landing at Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions, where he has worked for four years writing for a variety of projects from award shows to sitcoms to hidden camera reality to features to shows where people get hit in the face with foam hammers (please tune in to TKO on CBS!). Most recently he created and ran the digital series “The Donors,” (co-produced by Meta Valentic, whom he met when she was a script judge at the festival), out in August on the Laugh Out Loud network. Night School from Universal Pictures, starring Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish and co-written by Matt, opens in theaters September 28th. Spoiler alert, it has fewer ninjas than his earlier work, but same amount of brads.
