The pair made their screenwriting debut in 2001 with the critically acclaimed, enduring drama Crazy/Beautiful, which starred Kirsten Dunst, and Manfredi wrote and, with Hay, co-directed the 2002 comedy Bug, which won the Audience Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Hay resides in Los Angeles with Kusama and their son.
