Rita Blaik is a multidisciplinary scientist and artist based in Los Angeles, California. Her life's goal is to find new and innovative ways of communicating science to people through workshops, interactive discussions, art, and other media. She received her PhD in Materials Science & Engineering at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), working under the direction of Professor Bruce Dunn on utilizing nanoscience to improve the performance of biofuel cells for implantable device applications. Currently, she serves as the Manager of Education at the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA and as a faculty member at the ArtCenter College of Design.
