Zach N. Adelman
is a professor in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University. Following earlier work on the generation of mosquitoes resistant to viral pathogens, Dr. Adelman's research has more recently focused on the development of novel gene editing and gene replacement approaches for disease vector mosquitoes as well as understanding genetic interactions between arthropod-borne viruses and their mosquito vectors. Dr. Adelman’s work has been featured in journals such as Science and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and he has served as the author or co-author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Adelman has recorded webinars for the National Academy of Sciences, the American Institute of Biological Science, and The Scientist magazine on gene editing and gene drive, and is an active consultant for The Science & Entertainment Exchange, which connects the television/film industry with academic experts.
